Arizona Right to Life Calls on Congress to Defund Planned Parenthood

Phoenix, AZ — Arizona Right to Life is urging Congress to stop sending federal tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, an organization that’s been using public money to fund political agendas and expand abortion access, all while claiming to offer healthcare.

“Public money is the money of Arizonans,” said Representative Lupe Diaz, who sponsored state legislation to block tax dollars from going to abortion providers. “Special interest groups and the abortion industry have plenty of money to keep their operations going. Let them use their own money. My bill simply makes sure taxpayers aren't forced to fund or promote abortion.”

In 2023, Planned Parenthood reported 2 billion dollars in revenue. They received $699.3 million dollars from the U.S. taxpayer in the form of Government Health Services Reimbursements and Grants. In the past four years they have received over $1.7 billion in taxpayer funds.

Planned Parenthood has turned from being an organization focused on women’s health to an Abortion Lobbying Giant. In 2024 - they spent $40 million dollars to influence federal and state elections to achieve their policy agenda – unlimited abortion on demand. This is political activism—not healthcare—and it shouldn’t be publicly funded.

Planned Parenthood and its allies often claim that cutting taxpayer funding would hurt emergency women’s care. But Arizona law is crystal clear. Under A.R.S. 36-2151, abortion does not include miscarriage care, ectopic pregnancy treatment, or life-saving procedures for mothers or their unborn children. That argument is false—and it’s misleading to the public.

Arizona Right to Life is calling on Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and shift federal funding toward real, life-affirming healthcare—prenatal services, maternal care, and support for women facing unplanned pregnancies.
