(Phoenix, AZ) — Today, the Arizona Right to Life called on its allies in the fight against Proposition 139 to work together to overturn the constitutional amendment that enshrines abortion up until birth. On election day, Arizonans voted for the amendment with more than 61% of the vote.  

“Our state crossed a dark and tragic threshold with this vote and dealt a devastating blow to humanity,” said the Honorable Jill Norgaard, Chair of Arizona Right to Life. “The passage of this amendment is simply a result of months of lies and manipulation by abortion extremists who tried to scare women that they would lose access to medical care if they were pregnant.”

The Arizona Abortion Access Campaign poured more than $35 million into a relentless advertising blitz of fear and lies.

“It’s infuriating to see lies take root and spread across the country. The other side knows their claims were blatantly false, but aided by a complicit media, every article, ad, and interview left voters misinformed and manipulated. This campaign wasn’t about truth or women’s health - it was about winning at any cost, including the lives of children in the womb.

“What’s heartbreaking is how many churches stayed silent during this fight. Where were the pastors, the bishops, the faith leaders with the courage to call out evil for what it is? Where were the political leaders to push back against the lies and champion the lives of the preborn? Yet, we are grateful for the handful of priests and pastors who did stand fearlessly for life, taking action from their pulpits and rallying their communities—their courage was a bright light.”

Arizona Right to Life is calling all those who believe life is sacred to work on a new gameplan to expose the lies of the Left, continue to share the truth, and work toward a day when every human being, no matter how small, is protected and cherished including in Arizona’s constitution.
